For the last few years I have spent my Capricorn birthdays in Austin. It offers fresh light, recluse and contemplation. In the mornings I fill the claw foot bath with hot water. On Saturday’s we get our weekly groceries from the farmers market and on Sunday morning I lounge on the empire sofa listening to NPR with Blair as he catches the rays peaking through the windows of the study.
While in Austin I usually keep to myself, typing on a vintage blue Smith-Corona typewriter and reading the books I haven’t finished. If I socialize it is with house occupants, passing guests or one of three dear friends I call my southern family.
Mary Kang asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I requested a raw capture of me in my habitat.
